Economical Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures: Module 4

These seminars will provide design professionals with ways to economically design and detail conventionally reinforced concrete members that comply with the provisions of the 2014 edition of ACI 318, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete. Practical and time-proven methods and guidelines have been compiled from various sources to assist designers in the design and detailing processes of a reinforced concrete structure. Numerous details and design aids are provided that will help in achieving overall economy while reducing design/detailing time.

Design and detailing requirements for structural walls and foundations are given in Session 4 for all Seismic Design Categories. Included are economical detailing guidelines at wall corners and intersections and for walls with openings and reveals/rustications. Presented are methods on how to economically size and detail footings, mat foundations, drilled piers, and grade beams. Details are included for all Seismic Design Categories.
